About the Author

Anthony Williams is a UK-based developer and consultant with many years experience in C++. He has been an active member of the BSI C++ Standards Panel since 2001, and is author or coauthor of many of the C++ Standards Committee papers that led up to the inclusion of the thread library in the new C++ Standard, known as C++11 or C++0x. He has been the maintainer of the Boost Thread library since 2006, and is the developer of the just::thread implementation of the C++11 thread library from Just Software Solutions Ltd. I bought this book knowing that its first edition was referenced by two of my favorite C++ books, "Effective Modern C++" (Scott Meyers) and "The C++ Standard Library: A Tutorial and Reference (2nd Edition) 2nd Edition" (Nicolai M. Josuttis). The book is comprehensive and includes discussion of features in future versions of C++ in the "experimental" namespace. The author makes excellent use of analogies to explain some threading concepts.

the content is five start. But i was so surprised at the printing. All the figures are black and white which makes it hard to read sometime. The paper quality looks terrible. I saw the first electronic edition has all colored figures. Not sure if what i purchased is a fake edition or this is what it is. All in all very disappointed about the printing.

Goof coverage of modern c++ concurrency concepts. Definitely one of my essential c++ books
